The role of our Working Group is to work with other Biodiversity groups to protect and enhance our public gardens, green spaces, trees and the Canterbury sections of the River Stour.
Projects include:
- Participated in Campaigns to save Wincheap Water Meadows and Old Park and Chequer’s Wood
- ePetition calling on Canterbury City Council to adopt a Pollinator Action Plan, now drafted and awaiting adoption by CCC
- Tree and Woodland Strategy is now drafted and awaiting adoption by CCC
- CS represented on the Canterbury District Biodiversity Network steering group
- CS represented on the Canterbury Riverside Group
- CS represented on the East Kent Parks Forum
- Working with the Canterbury BiD to prepare for Canterbury in Bloom
- CS represented on the Canterbury Litter Round Table and the Canterbury Riverside Litter Task Team
- CS organises an Annual River Clean and Autumn litter pick
- Maintaining and promoting the Butterfly Garden in Pound Lane
- Maintaining and promoting the flower beds along the Franciscan Way
- Part of the Admin team for Canterbury Trees, Wild Canterbury and Canterbury Grot Spots Face Book groups
- Annual Green Heritage Talk in the spring (May)
- Organising Canterbury Tree Week – part of National Tree Week
- Participating in the annual Stour River Festival (September)
- Responding to consultations on Canterbury City Council strategies relating to Open Spaces and Biodiversity
