Volunteer with us

As a charity, the Canterbury Society relies on Volunteers who work with us and support our ‘Working Groups’ in a number of different ways. You can do as much or as little as you choose but some examples of ways you can help might be:

  • Doing some research, writing reports, replying to CCC Consultations and planning applications
  • Organising events, booking venues and speakers, stewarding, greeting attendees, serving refreshments, putting out chairs, clearing up after events
  • Marketing, compiling our newsletter, writing articles, social media updates, website updates, distributing leaflets, design work, giving talks, liaising with partner organisations or other groups
  • Hands on help with projects like gardening, litter picks, river clearance, walks, tours, exhibitions
  • Helping (or leading) campaigns on specific issues which concern or interest residents
  • Being the eyes and ears of the society looking out and reporting bad design, shabby signage, graffiti, litter, sewage, damage to listed or historic buildings, demolition sites with no planning consent and many other ways to help.

You could volunteer to be a Trustee, be on our CommitteeLead a Working Group or just get involved in one of our Working Groups to help with projects.

If you have some time to spare and would like to help the society in some way, then please think about volunteering and contact Hilary for an informal chat at chair@canterburysociety.org.uk
