The launch of the Consultation on the World Heritage Site Management Plan, which was to have taken place on Thursday 24 October has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We are hoping that a new date will be announced before too long, and we will then be in touch with information about the date, venue, speakers and other information. The WHS Management Plan is an important document which will shape the future of our city so we hope you will be able to attend this event when it eventually takes place.

Canterbury is proud to be the home of a UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS).  This brings together Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and attracts millions of visitors from all over the world, as well as being a focus for life in Canterbury.

The draft Management Plan for the WHS will be presented to the public for consultation at a special meeting which will take place at 7.00 pm on 24 October at Canterbury Christ Church University. Everyone will be welcome at this important meeting which will mark the start of a process of consultation about the proposals set out in the Plan.

The Ten Year Management Plan has been developed by the Canterbury World Heritage Site Management Partnership. It sets out aspirations for the intangible heritage, properties that make up the WHS, along with the public realm that sits between and around the sites. There will follow a consultation which will invite the views of stakeholders in and around Canterbury during November and December.  After consultation, the final version of the plan will shape the positive and sustainable future of Canterbury’s World Heritage status.
