Canterbury has been a World Heritage site since 1988 but has it made the most of this important status? The recent example of Liverpool losing its World Heritage Site status has shown how we can’t take our own status for granted and why now, more than ever, partners need to come together to develop a new coherent plan for managing one of our greatest assets. This talk will touch upon the challenges of bringing partners back round the table to find the common ground, and how we have subsequently worked together to develop a new unified management plan for the World Heritage Site. The talk will also look to the future, what are the short and long term aspirations for the World Heritage Site partnership, what will the challenges be, and how can we engage the wider community of Canterbury to better understand and appreciate the value of the World Heritage Site.
